Fiber weed guards are made of individual nylon strands that are molded together at the base. Fiber guards are supplied extra long to fit almost any lure or jig. The weed guard is usually trimmed after molding to fit an individual lure or jig by cutting the end of the fiber guard with scissors. Fiber weed guards are made with several base diameters to vary the stiffness of the weed guard. Strand diameter of the weed guard also affects the stiffness of the fiber guard. Each Do-It mold specifies the type of fiber guard it will accept and only those fiber guards with the same base diameter will fit in that mold.
Fiberguards can be molded directly into the jig head when it is cast or glued in later. Gluing the weed guard in later makes painting the jig head easier.
