Jig hooks manufactured by Gamakatsu, Mustad, Owner, and Eagle Claw. Jig hook styles include aberdeen, O'Shaughnessy, flipping and wide gap bends.
It is often possible to use different models and sizes of jig hooks than those specified in your jig mold. Some jig hooks will fit directly into the jig mold without modification. When attempting to substitute a jig hook, place the jig hook into the mold and gently close the mold on the hook. Do not try to force the mold shut. Forcing the mold closed on a ill fitting jig hook can damage and even ruin a jig mold. Sometimes a slight bend of the jig hook or removing a small bit of material from the mold face willl allow the jig hook to fit. We have not found it possible to substitute an O'Shaughnessy style jig hook into a mold that uses aberdeen jig hooks without major modification because of the large diameter wire used to make O'Shaughnessy jig hooks.
