Cast Net Care - Prior to using your cast net, let it soak overnight in a solution of freshwater and fabric softener. This softens and lubricates the monofilament netting and braille lines. A brand new net that has been tightly packed will initially perform much better after this soaking. Check your cast net before every use and mend any cuts and rips. After use, rinse your cast net using only freshwater and hang it until the leadline is completely dry. Never hang your net with the leadline off the ground. This will tighten the knots and will remove the broken-in feel. Store your net in a cool, dry location. Never expose it to the sun for extended periods because sunlight is harmful to the monofilament. Avoid using your net in areas of reefs, rocks, or other submerged objects could shorten the life of your net.
